Hi All,

I recently upgraded from a GeForce 256 SDR to a 32 MB GeForce 2 GTS from Creative Labs. Everything worked great with my old first-gen GeForce, but once I installled the GF2, I started getting start up problems. For example, If I leave the machine off for awhile, and boot it up, I get a long beep from my bios, and my new GF2 fails to be initialized. However, if I hit the reset button, it usually works fine and I can get into Windows and everything runs fine. My question is what is causing this ? is it the AGP slot ? the video card ? I have the latest bios. Could it be a bios setting ? Thanx for your time.

I agree with loveturtle. Sounds like either your Powersupply or motherboard can't handle the power needs of the new vid card.

You mentioned "..If I leave the machine off for awhile...." What happens if you shut it down and power it right back up within like 10 seconds? If you don't get the beep...I am completely confused. :(

Check the BIOS video cache settings. If I remember right, turn off all caching relating to video except the IRQ for VGA. Set AGP aprature to 64mb (default). Does this help?

Good Luck...you "may" have a bad card....any chance you could borrow a similar card from a friend?

I have a 250 Watt Sparkle Power Supply. I thought the power supply wouldnt be a problem because I heard the 256 SDR sucked more power than the GTS, is this wrong ?

If I power it up after about ten seconds, it works fine !! I also tried the card on my friends P3 700 and it worked fine. Im gonna try it on my other friends T-Bird 850 (they both have 300W PS)and see if it works. Ill let you guys know.

Thanks for the help.
