Firefox+AdBlock extension=
It's better than Firefox's default imageblocking because you can block individual images/directories instead of entire servers if you want to.

Is Internet gambling even legal in the US? I thought these sites were all located offshore to get around the laws.

Yep, Partypoker is located in incorporated in Nicrugria (or however you spell it). Oddly enough, they still send you a tax form if you win more then $10K . . . I guess to keep uncle sam happy.

Usually I don't notice ads but this one is pretty damn tacky and seemed to be screwing up my formatting a bit (side scrolling at 1280x1024?? I don't think so) so I have blocked all images from that server. I call BS on that they have no control over what ads are shown. The mods do not but anand most definitely does. Hell he had people paying for a service where they could get an ad free forum site, which interestingly enough is still up. Guess they still have a few subscribers left before they shut down that server. So it's not like he can't afford to be selective in the ads that are put up as it has been proven before that people are willing to pay for an ad free site but will only tolerate so much if the only choice is a site with ads.

Here is my personal opinion. I don't care about the add. I do care about the fact that we can't get a consistant policy reguarding poker threads on here. Some are let be, some are locked, and some are flat out deleted, it's ridicluous; and in the meantime we have that lovely banner mocking us . . .

PartyPoker is well known to pay their referres ridicluous amounts of money, I'm willing to bet anand took a deal too good to refuse (probably $50/head + rakeback). Not that I care - in fact I encourage people to give poker a try, and will help them as much as I can to make money, or at least not get taken, but something has to be done about the ridicluous contrast between forum policy and that ad.

I've just started using FireFox at home, I'll have to give this extension a try.

Are there any other ESSENTIAL extensions I should have?

I like how they do it to protect underage members, but threads about weed and ones that contain graphic war images are alright.

I'm just saying that poker isn't really a big deal, but it's certainly not worse than those examples.

it's not the ads people are complaining about (for the most part), but the fact that poker threads get locked.

I don't care, I don't participate in the poker threads and I don't see the ads (thanks firefox)
