HUGE $4.99 Game Clearance at Circuit City stores

I wanted to let you guys know that some locations at least ARE restocking.

I had already shopped the $4.99 sale at my neighborhood CC, but since Wednesday is restocking day, I decided to go back when they opened this morning at 10:00 just to check. Lo and behold, they did indeed get new inventory. In fact, the new inventory games were still loaded on a distribution cart just sitting in the video game section. I ended up getting 13 more games this morning.

So I would not say this deal is over quite yet. Any sale games still in the distribution chain will eventually end up on the store shelves, so just keep looking.

Went into CC today, game section had been restocked, but not any 4.99 games. I only checked the xbox section, but didn't see any 4.99 titles.

just came back from the Newark,CA store and it wasnt restocked...slim picking there but got another gamecube game...all the rest are sport games for the PS2/Xbox

Emeryville, CA has signs up stating they're not honoring the 4.99 price until the official start date of 7/11/04, Just a FYI

NYC Union Square is still completely out, except for Celebrity Deathmatch (XBOX) and Kelly Slater Pro Surfing (GC) from what I could tell. No bin, no new stock, but they did put up lists of $4.99 games above the GC and XBOX sections. Looked kinda odd that the GC list seemed longer than the XBOX one, despite having a lot less shelf space dedicated to it. ^^

I called almost every Circuit City store in Orange County, California. Everystore is either out of stock or nearly out of stock from last Sunday. Store in Irvine said they should have received them today however they didn't get their bin or something like that? So they couldn't put them out so told me to check back tomorrow. The Store in Laguna Hills said they have the games but the sale will not start until Sunday, July 11. All other stores were either extremely rude saying they have not heard anything about it and it will not happen again.

Looks like I'll be camping out in front of the store on Sunday 😛 ... I'll also be checking by the Irvine one later on today to see what their stock looks like ...

Hope this helps everyone in the OC area!

Well I had an interesting experience today that sheds some light on the fact that some titles don't ring up. I tried to get Virtua fighter 4 for ps2 yesterday at a particular CC but it rang up for $19.99. Today I was at a different CC and the same title rang up for $4.99! So either the title list is different at different stores or the composition of the list is changing.

Plus, a whole bunch of PS1 games seem to have been added to the list like:
Digimon Rumble Arena
Digimon World 2 & 3
The Little Mermaid,
bunch I forget...

Also saw some 1 month prepaid time for Everquest. A huge bargain for 1 month.

well, here is my endeavor for the day.

I went to my local Circuit City and bought 3 All-Star Baseball 4 copies. $15 dollar total out the door. I then went to Blockbuster GameRush and traded two games for $7.00 each. Total $14.00. (so down 1.00 so far profit) They have a deal though where if you trade two games, you can get any pre-owned game for $9.99. So I bought Driven 3 for $9.99 (left with $4 dollar credit, up 3 bucks for day.) I then went to another blockbuster gamerush, and traded in Driven 3 for $30 (their current trade in value for driven 3), and another all star baseball 4 for $7. (up $33 now profit on a blockbuster gift card) and bought mario kart racing for 9.99 (up 23 bucks). Now I don't know whether I go back tomorrow and buy more copies of games for $5 bucks and buying driven 3 back.

There are a few games that I really like out there, and would love to buy. Anyway, I am currently up $23 bucks.

Went to two CCs in ct. One store was pulling the games off the shelf when I got there, and the other was already semi picked clean. The stores seem to have gotten the notice at different times, but both were willing to sell.

After fruitlessly searching all PDX metro area CCs for Disgaea, I broke down and bought it for 49.99 at EBX. Well, I figured it's worth it, both to play and also to stick it to the egayers.
I usually don't shop for video games too often, so this was a fun experience, picking thru shelves and grilling otherwise idling customer representatives.
That being said, I'm still hitting CC on sunday to see if I may luck out 🙂 Hey, would I be considered an ATer if I didn't? 🙂

(yes, I'm not opening my EBX copy for a while...don't really have time to play right now)

I was there on Saturday and they didn't have any copies of Disgaea. I've been told that it's pretty scarce because they haven't pressed a second run yet.

Went to a different CC today, they had the 4.99 games in a seperate bin, each game had a 4.99 price sticker on it. There were about 12 xbox games, three of which where multiple of the same title. There were aprox. 20 Ps2 games, and 3 GC games. I asked the employee (who showed me where the bin was) if they would have more on Sunday, since it was going to be in their ad. He said "Yeah, it's in the ad, but i don't know if we are going to have any for people on sunday" I looked at him funny and he shrugged.

I went back today and found:

GBA Simcity 2000

Xbox The Sims
Xbox Whacked

GC Waverace: Blue Storm
GC Dead to Rights

None of those were there the last time I looked. Looks pretty bad for those waiting for Sunday in my area.

A little good news. I stopped by one of the CC stores around here (Indian Bend - AZ store) and they had a ton of $4.99 games that weren't there last time I went. It was interesting because it was 3 big racks full of games. It wasn't just GC, PS2, Xbox, PS1 either. They actually had a bunch of Dreamcast and GBC games as well (lots of hard to find GBC titles, which surprised me). I asked the sales associate where the games came from, and he told me they had just pulled a lot of old stock from the back. He also told me other stores were going to do this as well. You guys should stop by your CC stores again or call and ask them if they're going to put out some backstock now or on Sunday.

We're 6 days into the clearance, and I had my single biggest haul today. Here's what I picked up for $4.99 today alone:

GBA/GBC
Mario Tennis GBC, Pokemon Crystal GBC, Zelda Ages GBC, River King 2 GBC, Megaman Xtreme 2 GBC, and a lot more.

Xbox
Cat in the Hat
Buffy Chaos Bleeds

PS2
18 Wheeler
Rayman 3
Super Bust A Move
MTV Music Generator 2
Jade Cocoon 2
Yu-Gi-Oh: The Duelists of the Roses
Dark Cloud
Moto GP 2
Summoner 2

Gamecube
Disney Extreme Skate Adventure
Frogger Beyond
Defender

PS1
Crash Bandicoot Collector's Edition (CTR, Crash Bash, CB Warped)
Spyro Colllector's Edition (Spyro 1-3)
Dragon Valor
Yu-Gi-Oh Forbidden Memories

That's proof there's still stuff out there. If you're in AZ, check the Indian Bend, Scottsdale store. There's still a ton of good stuff there when I left earlier today.

I went to two stores in SoCal, the Rosemead/Colorado and Barranca/10 fwy stores were both out of all the games. Actually the Barranca store had 2 copies of Super Sumo. I didn't bother getting them cuz the trade-in value would have been at or less than $5.
