Huawei Ascend Mate 7

Anyone here gotten over the stigma of having a chinese phone and fancies a high-end flagship with aluminum body, slim bezel, 4100mah battery and a 6in screen? Been waiting for a formidable upgrade to my note 2 (need a big screen to vpn into work computer) and decided to pull the trigger on this phone as it meets all my requirements. I'm honestly blown away by the craftsmanship and design of this phone, not to mention the UI doesn't get too intrusive like TouchWiz.

Are u using it for Att or Tmo ??
I've been waiting for all the flagships to come out and see any of them are worth the upgrade. If not I just might get the Mate 7.

I was thinking about it but decided against purchasing the device. Had it been pure Google without any Huawei software changes I would have purchased it. Unfortunately, that is not the case.

I was thinking about getting one of the no-camera ones before, but they all had incompatible 3g, no 4g, so you'd be stuck at edge for data.

Prices for these seem all over the place - what's the best price you can get in the US?

$480-ish for a 6" 1080p phone with a sub-S801 SOC, 16GB storage, 2GB memory, and everything else pretty normal seems like a fair price, not a screaming deal today. It's a mid-range phone at a mid-range price.

Mine was a brand new open box that I got on Amazon. It was $450 shipped. As for what's flagship and mid range, that's all relative, right? I wouldn't call the Kirin 925 sub sd801 but it's along that line. Spec wise, it's a galaxy s5 with aluminum body, 6in screen and battery that lasts for days... and I wouldn't call an s5 a mid range phone. The differentiation here is software and the Samsung brand name.

Only the L09 supports 4G lte here (I'm on tmo) so that's the one I got. Mines black.

Huawei's emotionUI (as they call it) skin on this phone is almost pure lollipop-like. I've been in the flashing game since the htc diamond wayyy back and have used all kinds of roms (cm, aokp, etc) and like I mentioned in the op, the skinning is very minimal and it feels natural almost like pure android. I've noticed with most Chinese phones is that they take very little liberty to undo what google did so you can expect it to perform right out of the box with little lag (if any).

Yea gotta be careful as seldom will you see a Chinese phone with US supported bands. Fortunately, the AM7 supports at&t n tmobile's 4G lte (for the mt7-L09 model at least). The TL10 model (3gb ram/32gb storage) will be stuck on edge here in the states.
