I've gone through them for a website I made for a class project. It was for a non-profit organization, so obviously cost was a big fact, but the nature of the organization made it unsuitable for an advertising-sponsored hosting service.

Doesn't seem like a particularly fast service (although I haven't measured it in any way), but they have been reliable.
Haven't had to deal with customer service at all, so I don't know what that's like.

All in all though, I'd say I was very happy with the service for the price paid.
