I'm ordering the last of the parts for my HTPC, but the last thing I haven't settled on is a wireless keyboard and mouse. It will mostly be used for recording and web surfing, but I'd still like the option to game with it...

Anyone have any advice on which set I shoud get and what type (Bluetooth vs RF)? I'd like to stick around the $60 range, but that is flexible if the set promises to help maintain my sanity...

i like the blutooth option...namely as you can connect other devices too it. my friend has the wireless mx710 or something but its the bluetooth version and he can also connect his PDA at the same time, and his mobile.....bluetooth maybes wont give you the range of RF though, but itll still be adequate so long as your not gonna be surfing the web from a different room or something. bluetooth can go as far as 200m depending on how powerful the transciever is.

not sure about the difference in lag between RF and BT.....anyone got links that document this?

I've been using the Microsoft Bluetooth keyboard/mouse set for my HTPC, and the couch is located appx. 10 feet away from the system, and there are no problems. Gaming, like ribbon said, isn't the best, but it is fine for the average gamer.
