Is it wise to build a computer that i can play games on but also use as a htpc?

Of course, a compromise can be made between an extreme gaming system and an extreme HTPC. In fact, most PCs you buy nowadays can do both pretty well. A high end gaming card would most probably have the neccessary HTPC decoding/deinterlacing features that are desirable for a HTPC, so I'd say yeah, why not? Games look great on a huge widescreen
