I'm looking to build an HTPC with an i7 3770k and I would like it to be as quiet as possible.

I'm having a hard time finding a good case that is small and has room for an external 5.25" drive.

So far this is the best I could come up with:

Do you guys have any recomendations?

Also I need a blu ray drive, again I'm looking at something thats quiet. I have a PS3 but it's too freaken loud.

I was thinking about this one:

Any suggestions?

I need a drive to back up my dvd's.

Why 3770K?

Using integrated graphics or discrete? One HDD/SSD?

The Apex, Rosewill and Tt Element Q are all the same case. If choosing among them, buy the cheapest one (at this time the Apex, $36 shipped at Newegg and Amazon).

3770k in a HTPC is overkill. I have a 3570k and it overkill.

I love overkill. I like it just because.

That's ok if you do too. Just understand your wasting money.

I'm getting the 3770k for $100:D so no money wasted;)

I looked at that lian Li but the optical drive would really limit my options.

The only thing I don't like about the Lian Li that I posted is the damn feet:|

You can get fanless cases, which is certainly going to be as quiet as you can get it.

Fanless with an I7 3770K does not appeal to me. Visit SPCR for inspiration.
SPCR's old standby Nexus silent fans, among others, are very quiet. Just need research.
Passive heatsinks for a 95 watt (before overclocking) CPU are going to be large, and require air flow.

Case size, well, most small cases restrict air flow, or at least can have "dead air" spots.

Interesting the three cases are the same except for appearance. I know this occurs with larger cases.

I decided on the Lian li case I was first looking at. Newegg has it for 30% off which brought it down to $112. It includes a 300w 80 plus PS and I couldn't pass it up for that price. I'll just have to live with the wheeled feet.

Now I just need a quiet blu ray player. The asus drive I was looking at has gone back up in price:( (at $35 it was a good deal but I was looking for feedback first).
So does anyone have any personal experience with a quiet drive?
