HTML Question

I have an HTML question. I have a website with a few subdirectorys. Not every subdirectory has an index.html page. Is there a way i can make it so if the viewed edits the URL down manually and just leaves the directory name, that it wont show the contents of the folder (like a file list). Short of putting a seperate index.html page in every directory?

If using IIS go to your web site properties, click the home directory tab and check "directory browsing"
