HTM vs. HTML

Back in the day, 4 letter extensions weren't supported, hence .htm
Now, .html is a valid extension but, other than an extra letter, they are the same.
 
I don't think htm is the standard - people seem to be moving back towards the obviously better HTML - it must be better cause it has an extra "L"!!!
