I'm looking at these phones, both are $80 with 2 year contract (alltel).
Pros of each,
Touch pro:
Full keyboard
4:3 screen

Treo Pro:
Thin(ner)
Faster (dual core 528 vs single 528)

I don't do a lot of texting, but plan to play games, which the bigger screen would be nice for. What do you guys think?

edit: moto q is free after rebate, but has no touchscreen, so I don't know about that one.

Where do you get that the Treo Pro is dual core??? Everywhere I looked it's a single core. I like the Touch Pro better. Oh and next time make sure to state what carrier you are going to use cus the phones have different specs for CDMA and GSM but figured you were going to use CDMA.

Touch Pro without a doubt. It is highly customizable with custom ROMS that add features, stability, and battery life. Take a look over at ppcgeeks.com for some more info. I have its little brother the diamond and have been flashing since day one. The only downside is the thickness of it but compared to the Palm I thinks its worth it.

treo pro has even worse battery life (somehow) than the touch pro, unfortunately, there isnt much of custom rom development going on for it as compared to the touch pro, which has boatloads of roms (mightyrom, copperrom, juicy, etc) for it that significantly reduce lag, improve battery life, and now some of the roms even have the touchflo3d 2 (the touch pro2's interface) on the touch pro.

overall, get the touch pro! :)

Wow, great price for either of them. Im also with Alltel and currently up for contract renewal. Where are you getting those phones for those prices? Id love to upgrade my 6800 to a touch pro for that price.

Late reply, but it's better that nothing.

Those prices were on the shopalltel website. I ended up going with a free touch pro (refurb) from att. Thing looks brand new. With the refurb phone they didn't require a data plan or minimum voice plan.

Great call on the Touch Pro! Since you didn't have to renew your plan you can look forward to getting the Touch Pro 2 down the line at a discount from the carrier in return for renewing!

Definitely check out PPC Geeks and play around with the custom ROMS that are available! I wish I had a keyboard but my Diamond will have to do for now until the Touch Pro 2 arrives for Sprint.

I've messed with pretty much all of them. I'm now on Energy 3.0, but may go back to the wm 6.5 PROven rom. What are you using on the Diamond?

I spent a few weeks on GrooveRom, Chronic and now JonRom. I tried a few others but for less than a day, so not worth mentioning.
