OK, HTC has a new flagship smartphone that Verizon will carry, probably less than a month from now. This phone, the HTC DNA is based on the Japanese J Butterfly but we were lead to believe it would differ in the battery and uSD storage, but it looks like that's not the case. This phone is very tempting based on the 5 inch 1920cx1080 screen that anyone whose seen it raves about, but it only has a 2020mAHr battery, 16GB of internal storage and no uSD slot.
The battery is likely to be a deal breaker by itself, but with only 16GB of storage and no uSD slot this is a no sale for me -- truly sad!!!
WTF is wrong with HTC? WTF???

Probably because a lot of popular music (generally almost anything studio produced) is heavily compressed and doesn't need a high bit-rate anyhow. It's not going to sound appreciably better at in a lossless format, especially considering it's probably being played through a dinky phone speaker or a cheap pair of headphones.
See, this is exactly what I'm talking about. Verizon may have asked HTC to exclude the MicroSD slot. Again, this is just one carrier. When this phone comes out for Sprint or ATT or if there is an international version, the MicroSD slot may return. People forgot about the difference between the Sprint version of the One X and the other versions (where Sprint's came with a MicroSD slot). Also, the battery life is better than what many here expected. A lot of whining and bitching over nothing.
sounds like an upgraded Nexus essentially, you must hate the nexus too
Given that we have confirmation of a bootloader unlock/root package already, I suspect a SD slot would have been mentioned already.I did see one report that seemed to indicate the DNA battery life was just a little less than the S3 and if that's the case, and I'd be surprise that it is, then the other problem I've mentioned might not be a problem after all.
So, here's hoping that new information comes out about the DNA that confirms there actually is a uSD slot.
It does not have a uSD slot, that is official. HTC claims its because US users have LTE access to "the cloud" through Verizon 4G and wifi all over and they took it out to make the phone thinner.
But we all know it's BS, its Verizon and HTCs partnership and a ploy to generate more data revenue by shoehorning people to use data with no SD and intentionally limited internal storage.
Based on the same gear as the Butterfly though, I wonder if uSD can be modded back on. I'd totally mod a SD slot and bigger battery with a thicker aftermarket back. Throw a 4000 mAh battery on it, call it a day, don't care about this thin trendy style fad.
1080p doesn't mean you HAVE to have 25GB bluray rips to your phone. I wouldnt do that with 64GB either. You won't see the difference in video anyway on the small screen, just use 480p or 720p like you do on other phones before this came out. For me its more for browser real estate and fitting more on a screen and sharp vector graphics, not watching 1:1 1080p video on my tiny phone even though they are being dumb and marketing it for that.
Do you still download 700mb movie rips? Those are soooo 2002. Why would I rip my movies to that? 8gb 720p rips are what I store on my NAS at minimum.
Ok but that wasn't my point about 1080p. My point was about the VIDEO CAMERA. When you record at 1080p, it eats up space. Just a minute or two and it's like 100mb+.
No. I use 50GB Bluray on a 100"+ screen. I don't walk around pretending my cute little phone is a home theater or a $10,000 professional camera recording 29 hours of uncompressed HD video like everyone else apparently does.
No, you are. So far your main argument is that anyone who needs more than 12gb for personal use is an idiot. This isn't getting you any converts. You guys are trying so hard.

No, the argument is people that need more than 12gigs of storage for music are people that can't prioritize what they'll need and instead just want to take everything and anything with them just in case! They have a mental disorder related to hoarders and need to seek help.![]()
