So it's confirmed to have a 1.7Ghz Tegra 3+ inside here.
Looks like it might line up to try to steal some of apples iThunder in September, but it might have the same downfalls of the original One X(s).
My question is, what would it take for you to choose this over the GS3?

SD card slot
32gb option
There's even rumor of a pure, senseless android

I'm on the fence between the two heavyweights right now, I think any of those things, most especially the sd card slot, would put a One X in my pocket.

If they don't put an SD card slot on there this time they're just giving away sales they could have.

I agree it's a bone-headed move, but 32gb option would go a long way toward making me get it.

word of advice, if it does not come with latest OS (jelly bean) when it is released, don't buy it. Learn from other people mistakes. HTC and others are horribly slow on making updates.

-Not shipping with Tegra3. Tegra3 is now an outdated SOC. It's been outclassed by both Krait and Exynos. I'm not sure what the difference is in the "+", but I'll just assume that it's simply just an overclocked Tegra3 chip with no extra new features and nothing more. Krait and Exynos can be overclocked too...Big deal.
-Not shipping with Sense.
-Shipping with an SD card slot or 32GB internal with no stupid dedicated limits for "app storage", "music", etc...
-Not shipping with unlocked/unencrypted boot loader.
-Shipping with Jellybean or will get it within a "few" months. And by "few" I mean 1-3 months, not 6 months to 2 years.
-Shipping with a removable battery.

That's all I can think about for now.

all it would take for me to choose it over the SG3 would be an SLCD+ screen.

The Tegra 3+ in the phone is rumoured to be a 28 nm shrink. The increased frequencies should make it go head to head with the international version of GS3 in both CPU and GPU

With that said. The only "current gen" phone i would consider buying this year would be the next Nexus and only because of the software. If i wanted a skinned phone i would rather wait until Cortex A15. The difference will be massive, especially in an OS where better hardware does make a difference

Personally, I'd rather see a removable battery than a SD slot.
I never have problem with storage but I sure do run out of battery alot.
My plan is to get a white GS3 before the end of Sept as an anniversary present for my wife.
If anything else come along as an equal, I'd rather get that instead.
Not a personal fan of the SG3.

Considering HTC calls the OS their phones run "Sense with Android", I think you know where their priorities lie. I liked Sense back in the Gingerbread days but it's completely useless with ICS and JB which fixed a huge amount of rough edges in Android. Thank goodness for the XDA and Rootzwiki developer communities.

I went to at&t today & played with a OneX. It is such a beautiful piece of technology. The screen , by far, is the best on the market currently. It is so perfect, it looks fake. Very fluid interface. Beats the S3, hands down. As far as raw power, they are so close it is a wash, when actually using it, not benchmarks. Really, It is so fluid. Colors are amazing. Unibody style is solid, too. It just looks great. Camera & audio is A+. If I was on on Tmobile, I would definitely be looking at HTC right now. Great phones.
Sense 4 has some nice features. Mainly cosmetic, like transitions, widgets, animations. It is not overly present. Being on a Nexus, I found myself knowing where to look for everything in Sense. Never used an HTC phone before, so my first experience was here. I like it. It is not Jellybean, but it is a nice skin. Useful clock, media hub.

I was at AT&T store last Friday and had the complete opposite impression as you. One X and SGS3 was sitting side by side so I compared both screens. After reading and hearing how awesome One X screen was, I was prepared to be blown away. But I was like WTF, is this the same screen everyone is raving about? One X screen looked no better than the SGS3 screen, and I actually preferred the SGS3 screen. I thought the text on the icons looked cleaner on the SGS3 and fuzzier on One X. I would say the screen was a draw and not the huge advantage for either party. I didn't really play much with both other than observe the screen so no comment on the performance.

Call me an audio snob, but I find the whole Beats placebo/degradation thing really offputting in the HTC brand. It was such a strange useless direction to go.

They are identical internally in the US so the raw power should be the same.

Like I've said before, at this point its simply Spec bias.

But yet you took a Samsung Galaxy Note over an HTC One X?

Which I got rid of pretty much as soon as I found a person who wanted to trade. The One X to Note was a huge mistake on my part, even with no SD slot and the weird ass multi tasking I had remorse within a few days about the swap. In hindsight if I knew then what I know now I would have never traded in the 1st place.

No matter now though as I'm now rid of the Note.

They had money to burn and that's exactly what they did...

Not placebo at all, weather you think it sounds better or worse is I suppose a matter of personal opinion. But I put the hacked beats audio apk on my non HTC Android phone when I had one. And imho it's the hands down best sounding Android EQ. Volume+ has a Beats Audio emulation which sounds close, but it's still a bit off.

It's less accurate, and therefore objectively worse. You're free to find the distortion subjectively pleasing, just like you're free to buy Bose, but there is *also* degradation.

You mean subjectively worse? Accurate isn't always better, or even good for that matter. I produce music for fun and can tell you EQ'ing during the engineering stage makes all the difference in the world. Just because a song was recorded a certain way doesn't mean it was recorded with optimum sound EQ'ing. I've tried every EQ app on Android, and the Beats sounds the best imho. The highs are crisper and the bass has a bit more punch, this isn't objective at all, my ears and everyone who hears it with and without would say the same thing.

As for your mention of Bose, a set of Bose speakers surely would sound worlds better than the Coby speakers from Target. Bose in itself aren't great sounding speakers, but they do sound great compared to many brands out there. And again, that goes back to the source, a song with half ass engineering on bose speakers will sound better than a song that was eq'ed perfectly on some $15 Coby speakers.

Sounds bloody awful with classical or opera.
