HTC One Messaging app

Had my lovely One for a couple months now, but GOOD GOD the stock messaging app is horrendous. Any time I send an SMS to multiple people it takes at least ten seconds for my phone to process it; same thing happens when I get a response in the same thread.

Also, if someone from the multi-person SMS responds, the notification I receive takes me to a separate solo SMS thread, so I have to back out of that to my Messenger list of threads, then go back into the multi-person conversation. Very annoying.

Finally, I accidentally selected something awhile ago that causes any image I open from an MMS to go to a black screen. In order to view a picture my friend sends me via MMS, I have to save the picture, then go into my Gallery and view it.

I can't get my iPhone-using friends to use WhatsApp or BB Messenger, so what's a viable alternative SMS/MMS app that I can import my existing conversation threads into? Is there any way to get the stock Android messenger (which I loved on my GNex) onto my One without rooting?

I use GoSMSPro when I had the HTC One. It is faster than the stock messaging app, and handles multi-user messaging fine (although it was slow at that like the stock app, but slightly faster). I couldn't keep up with the iPhone users messaging back and forth with the stock app, GoSMSPro was slightly better :\

For the 2nd paragraph, that happens to me on every text app I've used. I don't know why it happens but it's pretty universal. I agree it's annoying but I haven't found a solution.
