I'm thinking about upgrading from the galaxy s3 to the HTC one but the main thing holding me back is the lack of removable battery. Does anyone here own a HTC one and can comment on battery life and charge time relative to the s3?

Battery life is OK given the hardware, charge time is a bit longer than most phones as has been noted all over the web.

It lasts longer than my iPhone 4S, even though I use it more than I did the iPhone. I turned off LTE and I do not worry about battery one bit - last time I charged to full was last morning - I'm at 35 hours now and down to 15%. So it lasted me "two days" with a typical use:
-> SMS and other messengers (Hangouts, FB messenger, Line)
-> a few calls
-> browsing Facebook now and then
-> reading articles on Flipboard
-> browsing the web a bit in Chrome
-> "a few" YouTube clips of cats :awe:
-> WiFi at home, 3G outside (I spent more time in 3G)

Charging it always at night, so can't really tell how long it takes.

Battery life is definitely better than the S3, but not quite as good as the S4, IMHO.

Charge time is rather long though compared to both the S3 and S4.

Full disclosure: I replaced my wife's S3 with a One, and I use a S4.

I can go nearly a day and a half on my TMO HTC One pretty easily, though thats with most of the mobile time on HSPA+ not LTE, and at home, I'm always on WiFi.

The battery life of the One really did impress me, I was expecting far, far worse given the size of the juice pack. My Verizon GNex sucked its battery dry in 4-6 hours average on a 2100mah battery.

I think I get around the same as my Note 2 -- surprisingly. Though I probably unconsciously use it a little bit less than I did the Note 2.

I'd say the HTC One's battery life is on par with the Galaxy S4 from what I've been testing with my friends. The Galaxy S4 was at 76% by 6pm, whereas the HTC One was at 74%.

Of course we probably had different usage, but it's just to demonstrate that they have one of the best batteries I've seen.

How do the two compare to the s3?
