Yea, I feel bad for not buying an HTC... I actually liked my thunderbolt once I put an extended battery in it, and now I hate my S4 and regret it...
Kinda sad how little the world cares about the HTC One, but they will overhype the Moto X... Or maybe that's just the America-centric sites I've been visiting?
Any numbers? The only ones I can dig up are estimates from the Verge:
Q1 2012: 7.4m
Q2 2012: 8.8m
Q3 2012: 8.7m
Q4 2012: 8.1m
Q1 2013: 9.6m (17.5% y/o/y)
Q2 2013: 10m (13.6% y/o/y)
I don't even know percentage wise if that's in line with general industry growth much less Samsung. And it's not a good thing they can't even match % growth when starting with such small numbers comparatively.
I only have estimates as well. But dig deeper on this site and you may find the official numbers

Sony says that it will ship 42 million Xperia smartphones during this current fiscal year (FY13) i.e. the year ended March 2014.
