I dont think that the go pro camera was suppose to pull them out of anything, it was probably just a way sell excess inventory, and the nexus 9 was never meant as a money maker since its a google product to show off new hardware. They posted profits which is good this quarter however little that is its an improvement.

Quick note: anything that starts from forbes.com/sites is no better than any other blog.

As for the rest, HTC has been in a death spiral for several years now. The lost the initial battles to Samsung and haven't been able to recover. The M7 and M8 are excellent devices, but aren't selling well enough to save the company.

They screwed up with the M7. They paid all that money for Robert Downey that should have just gone to more adspots.

I don't know if it would have mattered all that much. Samsung would have outspent them and HTC is still recovering from a bit of reputation loss due to the crap they shoveled out after the original EVO hit it big.

I think they would have been better off keeping the money and using it to provide incentives to salespeople to get customers to try the phone in stores as I think they would get more sales if people were willing to at least give them a shot.

Whoever does advertising for HTC should have been fired a long long time ago. It isn't just the waste of Downey. It's also slogans like "quietly brilliant".

What HTC should have done was to...quietly cater to the knowledgeable Android set by focusing on quality/price. Don't spend so much on advertising and focus more on building a cheaper quality phone. Act more like Xiaomi.

Headline is unfortunate if true. Just got a One (M7) and it's a beautiful device, much nicer than most phones out there.

HTC had a decent phone with the original Evo for its time. Everything after that has mostly been shit in comparison to the competition. Even the M7 and M8, while decent, are still out done by the competitors. And bigger speakers on a small device didn't convince me to buy one.

M7 and 8 are on a par with the competition and certainly have some unique selling points in the Android world.
It doesn't float my boat but I can see why it would be the first choice for a number of people.

I think HTC just lost their audience shortly after the original desire and haven't been given the space to regain it.

The original evo and thunderbolt were their biggest phones. After that they fell apart. The M7 and M8 are nice devices but they seem too far behind. Its a shame because more competition the better with cell phones, if HTC goes under its really Samsung and LG left running android

@shimpster I notice you've been just posting articles here and there with zero analysis at all. Are you here to do biased reporting or what? I quite honestly find this article to be pretty poorly written and just trolltastic.
