I'm a big fan of the design on both. Very Lumia-esque, very colorful, and both are definitely going to grab some attention on display shelves. I actually like the 2-tone design of the 8S better, even though spec-wise the 8X destroys it.

Very happy to see a flagship phone that's 4.3". As for the colors, they are vibrant but there's nothing really appealing about them. I'd go for the black (8X).

Interesting part of this whole announcement is how closely MS and HTC have been working. Notice that the HTC branding comes after WP8X.

4.3" 720p Super LCD 2 display = display geek orgasm. YESSSSSSSS.

All other OEMs seem to think that 4.3" 800x480 is acceptable, so you have to go up to a 4.5-4.7" screen size to get a 720p display.

Looks nice!

Love that there's so many options to choose from to replace my cracked screen dinc2:

iphone5
galaxy note 2
htc 8x
just to name a few, weee

This is probably what I'm most excited about as 4.3" is about the most I can use comfortably with one hand, and at 720p, it's a better retina display than what Apple has been using. I can't really say that it makes that much of a difference once you get into the upper 200's in terms of PPI, but it's nice to see HTC driving display technology forward.

Lumia 920 is 4.5". Ativa is 4.7". Titan II already was 4.7" as well. So Windows Phone has had some large phones and will continue to.

Very nice, the 8x looks like something to get if Nokia doesn't bring the 920 to Verizon. For a 2 year contract I prefer getting something top of the line at the time rather than saving a few bucks to have a less than great phone though the 822 seems just fine.

I'm going to have trouble picking between the 8X, Lumia 820, and the Ativ S. All seem to be really good, I may just have to get whichever is on my current carrier (Verizon) first.

HTC is definitely shrugging off the "quietly" part of their "quietly brilliant" motto.

I still can't understand why Google hasn't made official Google Voice app for Windows phone. Until then, I can't use Windows Phone 7/8.

I'm hoping they eventually release one with a slide out keyboard. Probably won't happen though.

I wish there was another vertical slider. The Dell Venue Pro was pretty damn good, wish I hadn't sold mine. I'd definitely consider a Venue Pro 2 for WP8 if they came out with one, or an HTC or Nokia equivalent vertical slider.

I thought it was great.. BUT then, it's almost the size of a Galaxy Nexus with a 4.7" display!

The old old HTC HD2 with a 4.3" is only 122mm.
The 8X is 132mm. Even the Nokia with 4.5" display is smaller at 130mm!!

Exactly which is why I've been saying HTC hasn't designed a great looking phone since the HD2.
Its really my only complaint as the bezels are too big top and bottom of the screen.
The point of making a 4.3" phone is to get the footprint smaller.

I do love the variety of colors though.
Its main purpose is that you can make the tiles to match the color of your phones.
Its a very cool idea and I think the younger crowd will love it.

I don't really care about the size of the phone, the size of the display is what determines how easy it is to reach buttons on the screen.

What ??????????? You serious ??
If HTC shrunk the bottom bezels half of what it is now, you don't think you can reach further up on the screen one handed ?? ???

I really like the form factor for the 8x, but I think it's strange how I find the design of the 8S (and Lumia 820 for that matter) to be visually superior in some ways. Either way, glad to see more strong WP entrants and as long as at least one of the 'good' phones comes to Verizon I'll be content.

Can't decide between the 8X or the Lumina 920. Decisions decisions, but I think MS has a great launch lineup for WP8.

Yeah, first time also that Windows Phone looks more interesting than any of the Android or even (dare I say) Apple phone announcements of the past few months. Granted, both those fan bases would hang me for saying so. 😀

I'm leaning to the Lumia 920. I really hope it's available right after official WP8 launch.
