HT CPUs

I'm sure this has been brought up before, but I've missed it along the way. I have several CPUs that are HT capable, but I only run single processes on them. Am I'm getting the best out of them by running the affinity at CPU0/1, or should I actually run 2 processes on the HT boxes, and will I get more WU out of them if I do so? I want to make sure I'm crunching the most effective way for the team. This would also apply to the boxes that I have that are true dual CPUs as well.

Your time per will rise by as much as 80% ie 2hours to 3.5hours but in that time you will have completed two units instead of only one. 🙂

It's been reported that you get about 30% more WU's from 2 processes with HT enabled. So I would say yes! 😀

My dell 3.2GHz HT puts out about 17 per day! 🙂

Ok, switched over my HT and dual CPU boxes to 2 processes per. I'm gonna watch my WU production closely and see if it actually shows up...if it does, I should push over 300 WU a day, since I'm running close to that now. 🙂

AWSOME! 😀

Just a cursory<spelling, example, but I found in 1 24 hour period of crunching with my spare box, with a 3.0 in it, that I got 31% more units completed than my average units with 1 instance of D2OL running. The 2nd instance of D2OL running with HT seems to be doing quite well, and my cpu temp only rose a max of 2C, not bad.

I won't get true results until Sunday, as the hiccup with the Seti servers today caused some dissention about how many WU I actually crunched. I'll be interested to see where the true number lies.
