Which HSFs allow you to easily replace their 60mm fan with a 80mm fan. I really like the design of the Swiftech 462, but it costs too much. I don't care about the fan that comes with the heatsink.

That's the first heatsink I've seen that can have an 80mm fan mounted on it and not juryriged. Most are made for a 60mm fan only. :(

I have heard that it is possible to replace the fan on Globalwin's FOPs. Is this true?

The reason I want a heatsink with a 80mm fan is because they can be quieter and also out perform the 7000rpm 60mm fans.

I mounted a 80mm Adda above my crappy ChromeOrb and had decrease of 10C.

Edit: It was actually a decrease of 6C, not 10C. Having the case open lowered the CPU temp by 4C.

someone posted in the forum a couple of weeks ago about a converter to use an 80mm fan on the mountings for a 60mm fan but it costed something like $25!

$25, that's too expensive. I'll just mount a 80mm or bigger fan over a decent HSF.
Thanks for the replies.

Howdy!

You could try the Peltec 80 to 60 mm fandaptor (click here for details) for the Alpha Pep66. I bought one, jury-rigged it with tape, and have a Panaflo L1A 80mm fan with reasonable results.
