HSF question -- can I use a Socket 939 HSF for Socket AM2/AM3?

I am contemplating having to replace a (dead?) mobo, CPU, and RAM. I'm currently on a Socket 939 system that's using an Arctic Freezer Pro. (It's been in use for 4 years now.) Could I use that same HSF on a new Socket AM2/AM3 mobo?

Is that even desirable? Since it is over 4 years old now would it be silly to recycle an HSF as opposed to just buying a new one, decreasing the risk of a catastrophic fan failure?

if you're worried about fan failure replace the fan with a new one. cooler mounting bracket is the same still. im using a cooler labeled as "AM3" on a S754 board right now that i revived for testing old DDR memory and AGP graphics cards with, thats almost a 10 year timespan in which the bracket has been more or less unchanged :)

I am using an Artic Freezer 64 from my old socket 939 system on my A2 + Athlon X2 and it worked fine for a long time but I just recently put a higher RPM fan on it because I overclock and I was starting to have the same concerns of fan failure due to hours of use because my system is on 24/7 nothing wrong with using that cooler most coolers even now are still using the same basic design
