HSF for dells

Hi I have a Dell 8200 with a Intel 850E Chipset mobo which supports the P4 3.06 which I plan to install. Problem is I need to know if the new processor will dissapate more heat than the 1.7GHZ Willamante. I know the Willamante is know for it's high voltage and too much heat but the 3.06 is faster and I dont know if it uses more wattage or not. Well some would say then just get a HSF instead of using a Heatsink on the CPU and a fan on the case to exhaust the heat to the outside. Problem is dell has manage to make a proprietary mounting scheme so when I tried to install the intel HSF it wouldnt fit. So what I would like to know is since they have kits out there that require you move the Standard Mounting scheme used by most HSFs will this kit work with my dell system or do I have to stick to what I have. Please let me know if anyone has had success in installing Standard or Kit HSF. Thanks

FWIW, i just picked up a stock intel heatsink retention bracket for $7 shipped. on my 400sc, the mounting holes on the mobo are exactly the same as any retail board, so the regular bracket hooks right up.

not sure if you'd be as lucky, but it might be a fairly cheap way to get a better heatsink installed.

Of Course buying a whole new set would be easy but I'd rather use what I have. What computer did you mean Whoiswes when you said 400sc? Has anyone else had success in upgrading thier proprietary computers to work with HSF latches?
