HSF for athlonXP?

Which HSF combo should I go for when I get my Athlonxp processor? I'm going to get the 1600+
I don't really want a gigantic HSF either, and I dunno wtf a shim is. I also do not plan to overclock.

This is for my new system, I'm buying a shuttle ak31a mobo from newegg.com

I've put some systems together for some friends earlier this year, but in both cases I used 1ghz tbirds with orb hsf's.. I don't think I want, or I'm even able to use the same coolers in my system.

BTW, I've got card coolers too.

might want to try this tread. coolerguys is having a red cross promotion offering the Volcano 6cu cooler for $9.95. Its AMD approved for all athlons.

BTW, a shim is just a piece of metal (copper) that goes between your cpu and the heatsink. just supposed to help cooling. but this cooler has a copper base so you wouldnt need one.

I would recommend Taisol 760(the one with copper bottom). Not loud and it would be enough for your cpu.

Dont get the Tt Volcano 6Cu, it's a POS. Try the Alpha PAL6035 or Thermalright SK6.

Dont know what a shim is? Search engines are useful!
