I am finally upgrading my system, and need advice

My old 900 T-bird is getting replaced with a XP2000+, and currently I am using a Chrome Orb. I bought a OEM, so now need a HSF. Been looking at Volcano 8 and Coolmaster models. I will not be overclocking, but want a decent cooler.
 
Thermalrights are really the way to go now if you are willing to spend the money. The Thermalright SK7 with a Panaflo L1A would be about $27 and very quiet. For a cheaper price you could pick up a SVC GC68 or GC69. You can get all of them at http://www.svc.com/ Thermaltakes are not the best coolers and are notorious for being overrated. Don't know much about the coolermasters.

ditto on the svc line, both the gc68 and gc69 are adequate for non overclocked cooling. They also have a nice price on the ax-7 and the sk-6 from thermalright.
 
Another vote for the SK7 + 80mm. Quiet, cool, and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg (more than the cpu itself).
 
The gc68 & gc69 are a tremendous value. Probably the best deal available anywhere- quiet & effective. Go ahead and splurge, get the gc69....

Thermalrights are hard to go wrong with for cooling. Well built, can handle a lot of heat and probably only fit 1 way. Tech support is ace, helped me decide what heatsinks fit my motherboards just in case I can ship from US -> UK cheaply.

I have to disagree on the Thermaltake coolers. I agree that most of it is for show but my Volcano 7+ is nothing short of nice. 45C at full load, 1.65V AXP 1800+ Palomino on slow speed. Very reasonable.

I think the main problem with Thermaltake is the poor fans they use. I believe they use rebranded Evercool fans and the problem with my V7+ is that it uses a 70mm fan and not an 80mm. The heatsink is quite a good one. If I ever get the cash, I might have a little test with it and a decent fan such as a TMD. Maybe I can do it justice.
 
Considering the close fit of a HSF to the memory slot on the A7V133, which HSF would be the best fit? Also, would moving to round IDE/FDD cables help with air circulation?
 
So far the Coolermaster HHC-001 (all copper) is working out great, as long as you make provisions for a quiter fan. It is quite loud, I got mine from Newegg for 26 bucks.
