I think early action is where you apply to college your junior year in high school, and start college instead of entering your senior year. Its if you exausted your school's curriculum. Someone please correct me if im wrong.

No no no no. Early action is where you apply early but its non-binding. Early decision means if you're accepted, you withdraw all applications from other schools.

NHA, FBLA, I placed 3rd in a state competition for FBLA, computer applications. Varsity sports, a bunch of other things too, but don't need to take up to much space. I fell in love with Mellon when i got there, it is such a gorgeous place and 7th in the country for my major. Has anyone else ever been there?

OMFG I WANA GO THERE!!!!!!! I'm only a junior but I know the place. Even though I live in cali I know a music teacher over there and the stuff they do is awesome. I think I'm gonna stay in cali though, f;laskd;la freakin tight school though.

We call it Running Start here in WA... It's done through your high school that allows you take college classes instead of high school ones.

I did that when I was a senior in HS and they called it dual enrollment in Fairfax County, VA. For all you highschoolers - it's awesome if you hate school, hate waking up at the a$$ crack of dawn, hate sitting in class for 7 or 8 hours a day, and only have a couple of classes left that you need to take (I only needed credits for English and History). You take the college equivalent of the classes that you need and you get college credit and high school credit for those classes.

Northwestern ED, Illinois at Urbana, Texas at Austin, Florida at Gainsville

I'm pretty good academically (1530 SAT, 33 ACT, all honors and AP courses) and pretty good outside of that (eagle scout, captain of trivia bowl, etc)

Northwestern's the definate first choice, though.

University of Michigan is a great place. I'm here for undergrad and I'm applying here for my Master's in Accounting as well.

Back when I was accepted here my GPA was about 3.84 in high school, 1410 SAT, 33 ACT, and 700+ in the SAT IIs. Good luck all you young'ins :)

faenix, I had similar stats (4.35/4.0, 4 5's and 2 4's on APs, 1500, 3 800s SAT IIs, varsity baseball, all state chorus, theater, governor's school, etc.) two years ago. I decided on Duke over Harvard (with Stanford, Yale, and Princeton apps ready to go out). Am I happy? Yes. Would I do it again? Maybe. Let me know how you decide and feel free to talk to me, since you seem to be in a similar position as far as "going against the grain." (Although Stanford may be held in higher regard than HYP where you're from, so maybe not.)

EDIT: sorry, I combined the stats of faenix's post with krk's schools. So i guess the advice is available for both of you (if you want it, I mean), but I was more referring to krk's post, then.

It's nearing the Early Decision deadline, and I was just wondering, where is everyone applying? And are you applying ED?

I'm applying ED to Wake Forest. I'm pretty confident I can get in, I've taken all Honors/AP classes, accelerated a year in math, varsity for XC/indoor/outdoor track. My SAT scores weren't stellar (700m/590v), but I think they'll be good enough. I've completed the smaller essays, and I'm working on the 2 bigger ones now.

Good choice! I'm a freshman at Wake myself, and it's great! "Free" laptops (really really nice Thinkpads) for all students. Look me up when you get here man, and PM if you have any questions!

Go Deacs!
