Pretty nifty.
Hey... that brought up an idea. All these shows - jackass, etc., have midgets getting abused.
4th and goal on the one yard line... midget and 2 backs in the backfield. Ball is hiked directly to the midget, and the two backs THROW him over the line, out of reach of the defenders until after he breaks the plane. Touchdown!!
Anything in the rules against such a play??
I don't think you're allowed to boost or help a player get into the air.
If so, i'd be much easier for an OL guy to drop down and the running back to run up and jump off his back and over everyone! the OL guys have some boards they can use as back protection that would allow them to step off of
But it's not legal.
Not to mention the D Line could get low, spring boarding the LBs at backs too
Also, being in the air is probably one of the most dangerous things in football.
People are taught to do naughty things to you when in the air. Even in HS football, if a defensive linemen leaves the ground to try to knock down a pass, you're taught to try to push the top of his torso so his feet are taken out from under him and he hopefully gets the wind knocked out of him when he lands flat on his back. LBs and DBs are taught to cut the legs out of leaping receivers.
Back in HS, a defensive tackle lept high enough where I wound up hitting him high up on his legs, sending him flipping over my shoulder. He didn't come back into the game after that.
