how did you redirect those pages? it appears, everything gets redirected to /small_instructions.shtml

ErrorDocument is a core function of Apache. mod_rewrite is a loadable module that has to be specifically loaded in httpd.conf. All the rewrite stuff won't work unless it's loaded.

Here's something to try..

Redirect permanent /small_instructions.htm http://www.hallusin8.com/small_instructions.shtml

That should work until you can get the rewrite stuff installed and do all the htm to shtml rewriting. That's part of mod_alias, which is used for all sorts of stuff and should be loaded in a pretty standard Apache config.
