You dumped XPHome in favor of XP Pro... did you upgrade, or did you completely wipe and re-install? If you upgraded, shouldn't Windows have been smart enough to retain the driver?

Have you checked the restore disks? Assuming that they restore the system to the state it was in originally, you should be set. The original configuration of my 4101 had a folder, C:\HP\, that had a subfolder with a bunch-o-drivers. You should check that out.

I plan on upgrading to XP Pro--- hope it doesn't crap out on me. Those hardware buttons are kindo nice.

I haven't found anything real cheap, but crucial.com has 256M, pc2100 SODIMMS for 89.99 with free fedex2day ship. Not a deal, but you can rest easy that it'll work.

By the way.... you CANNOT use normal sdram laptop memory in a DDR system, even if you wanted to. DONT EVEN TRY IT! Yikes. (It's not like the pc-100, pc-133 interchangeability from days gone by).

No, I completely wiped the hard drive and installed XP Pro. Those who still have the HP folder, can you do me a favor and see if you can find the HW button and touchpad drivers?

PS: When you install XP Pro, it won't automatically install video drivers. I couldn't find them anywhere on ATI's site, so I used Presario 1500 Radeon 7500 drivers from Compaq's website. Everything seems to work well so far.

I just called and got the Staples runaround with the HP ran out of CPU's excuse. I get a free CPU upgrade, but expected delivery is now first/second week of November.

Those who got the ze4101: when you fill out the HP MIR form, do you check off the ze4101 or a BTO Pavilion NB? Also, did you request an invoice from Staples, or just mail the packing slip alone?

I ordered my laptop on Oct 2 and have read (probably somewhere on this thread) that there is a "grace period" on the $100 Staples rebate which officially expired Sep 28. Does anyone have any experience of this? Any advice? Is it true/false?

Rebateshq.com is getting really nasty recently, turning down quite a few of my rebates.

I got the incorrect UPC post-card from staples. I called them up and asked them what was wrong. They asked me to look at the box for another UPC - it wasn't there. I guess the one they are looking for isn't on the BTO laptops. She said she would fix it for me and that I should be seeing the rebate in a few weeks.

I was also two days past the end date. But once I mentioned the grace period she said it shouldn't be a problem.

I got my ZE1201 a while ago, and sent off my MIRs. HP MIR got the UPC. Staples got a copy, and a letter explaining why they are gettin a copy.

I got the $100 rebate from Staples today. And HP rules on rebates, so I'm not worried about that in the least!!!!!

Hi, I just bought a HP usb floppy drive since it was free after rebate when I bought the HP ze4000 a few weeks ago.

However, as one so stupid as me, I threw the box out before I could cut the UPC off of it. So I was wondering if someone could send me a copy of the UPC if they have it.

hey are u guys calling the number on the postcard? i tried that all the options lead me to recorded msgs no live csr to talk to...i had called staples csr said they didnt deal with the rebate specifically and gave me that same number... tia

Deal is done baby!!! I received my $100 HP MIR in the mail yesterday!! Folks, I got this lappy for $675. That's it! $675. That's $875 (including tax, shipping, everything) - 2 $100 MIRs. And I got em both! I'm thrilled. I figured I'd have to call and argue with some peeps about these rebates, but I don't. That's it. $675.

Got the HP rebate today, $610 so far (860 - 50 - 100 -100), might get another $100 gift card from Staples if I get lucky Not too shabby IMHO.
