The wifi card = wap (wireless access point) to the best of my knowledge. The laptop will come with a rebate coupon that you send in with proof of purchase (packing slip). What you get back is a 802.11b module that attaches to the right side of the back of the lcd. It is the same module that attaches to the 2800T and the 900Z. W/o the module, there's just a plastic piece screwed on the back of your laptop's monitor. All you do is unscrew and replace it with the wireless module that you receive. Therefore you won't have to waste a slot on a wifi card like other laptop brands.

Let me know if this made any sense lol. :D

Performance Comparison

Do you know if the 2hr battery life with the longer battery or the standard one?

Dang, I ordered 1500T with P4 2.0 using the standard battery. I hope it would be able to run for at least 2 hrs.

The did the test with a desktop P4 1.5Ghz so the battery life of the mobile celeron 1.4Ghz should be greater for Compaq 1500T.

Staples charged me the tax on the original purchase price of $1,138.99 (w/ luggage). Can they do that? Did anyone have the same problem?

OK, my confirmation email showed the total is $832.44 (w/ tax after coupons) not $862.96 (w/tax before coupons). What should I do? Should I call them up and ask for a refund or dispute with a credit card? (once I received my laptop obcourse)

alm4rr,
The Kingston website if finally back up, but I'm not finding the info you quote below ("Order (2) sticks of 256MB PC133 from Kingston for $28 each shipped and you got a sweet setup for about $650 total"). They don't even list the ze1201 model for compatible memory, only the ze1210/1230/1250 models. Does the ze1201 use the same memory as those other models? And Kingston has the price for a 256MB memory stick for those models at $69.00. Where did you get the $28 price? Thanks.

If that works with 1210, then 1201 should be fine. 1210 just has bigger memory and cdrw.

This is so awesome, I ordered my Compaq Presario 1500T on Thursday 9/25 at Staples B&M for $1,037 after coupons - $100 MIR - $100 MIR = $837 final price with FREE SHIPPING.

Just checked my online CitiBank statement and it shows EXACTLY what I paid:
09/25/02 09/25 STAPLES #xxxx PORTLAND OR $1,037.00

DANG THEM ---- *** CHECK YOUR CREDIT CARD STATEMENTS! ***

My order total WITH tax (as shown on their order status--NOT order history page) comes to $819.99

I have a current charge on my credit card of $800.45 ?????

BUT WORSE THAN THAT:
I have a "pending" charge on the same credit card of $820 (I can't see by who or the penny amount, but that's how much it's reduced my "available credit" by.) I need to call the credit card company and find out what that's about.

And no, I havn't used the card for anything else in the last week, and definitely not for anything that large.

So looks like Staples is playing MORE games.. Everyone verify your credit card statements online immediately. Lets ensure Staples ONLY charges us what our order amount+tax was (what order status should show correctly)

My ebates.com credit hasn't shown up yet either.. others have said it has.

Rossman (or anybody else):

Is it still possible to get a good deal on the 1500T? My parents need a new sub $1000 laptop and this one looks like it would fit the bill perfectly. I was going to recommend the Latitude 2600, but if I can still get a decent deal on the 1500T - that would be best!

Any help would be greatly apprecaited. IM or e-mail me with info if possible.

Thanks,
-Pablo

If you ordered a Compaq Presario BTO notebook please call 1-888-215-8889 give them your phone number and name under which you purchased your Compaq notebook. They provided me with a Compaq order number which resembles 98..... and confirmed my notebook should be shipped on 10/2 via 2nd day air to be received THIS FRIDAY 10/4 !!!

Please update the original post in this thread with this phone number!

Those talking about the 10 day rebate grace period: where did you get this information? Is there any extra paperwork you have to fill out? My order from the 28th got cancelled (my mistake though) and placed again on the 30th, so it looks like I won't be getting the $100 staples rebate. After lots of b*tching, they agreed to send me a $100 gift instead. Now, if I can also get the rebate, that would kick a large amount of butt :)

stingbandel - After I get my 1500T the first thing I'm doing is 1) to confirm if there is a FireWire port or not and 2) test the battery life playing a DVD movie ... I want to see if 70 minutes is accurate or not.

I gotta find a WAP though, any recommendations? So far I am looking at Linksys, Orinoco, SMC and D-LINK please recommend a specific model number. I don't really need or care for a print server, need something fast, reliable, VPN, can upgrade with external antenna, Windows XP drivers, and costs around $100 - $200.

I just got my Presario 900Z, been playing it for a while. It's a good system but paid for almost $1500 through Compaq direct.

Since my 1500T only cost me $1122 out the door with PIV 2.0 gig, SXGA and all the goody, then I will return back my Presario 900z :)

Darno

how in the world did you get it for $1122?

RossMAN, I think this will come with the firewire and USB 2.0. I can call them again after this to confirm though but I am sure this will come with it.

WAP? I think I gave you a recommendation. Go with Linksys. they have a rebate that ends today if I am not mistaken though. WAP 11 is the model number.

LMK if you need any info. PM me is also ok :)

Hey Rossman....

Check around the forums for the WAP. ;) I just got a linksys router w/ 4 ports hardwired for $80 after rebate. I have read that you can pick them up from OD for $60 straight up, because they are no longer going to be carrying them. Good luck!

Hmmm... really wished I got in on the Compaq instead....
but at least my order wasn't cancelled.

Can't wait to test the ze1201 out...

If i ordered the HP on Sept 27th but confirmed on Sept 30th, the Staples Rebate will still work right?
