HP warranty service?

A friend broke the screen on her HP laptop, She asked me for help and I pulled the hard drive and copied all her files off it.
I saw on the bottom it had a 3 yr warranty so I checked the serial number and it has a few months left before it expires.
I told her this and found out her work IT dept gave her this older laptop when they were upgrading people. Apparently this was off the record, they just wanted to get rid of it.
She works for a very large company.
Would it be possible for her to use the warranty? or would it need to be done through the company IT dept?
I've never dealt with HP warranty before.😕

I don't believe LCD breakage is covered in the regular warranty anyway. Unless she has accidental damage warranty.

Well, my experience says that work laptops are usually 3 years with Accidental Damage Protection. Mine has this warranty, and broken displays were replaced twice here. Though I had to go through the company's IT system.

I think it wouldn't hurt to call up HP Customer Service and have them confirm about it. If they say that this will only be done via the company's IT, then you can think further ahead. You should probably be able to have the display replaced.
