I tested out that JB build for the TouchPad last night. Too much stuff didn't work for it to be a daily driver, but there is enough there for us to be excited. It almost felt like a new tablet at times in terms of "smoothness."

I got the N7 and didn't sell my TP yet. I gotta say I've been using the N7 a lot more around the house since it feels like a much more casual device. Although, I'm thinking of keeping the TP around just cause it might be the perfect travel tablet.

You have it backwards. The 7 is more travel friendly than a 10.

Not necessarily. For a short trip or weekend maybe the N7 is better. However, if I went one a week or two week trip out of the country and only had 1 thing I'd prefer the TP for the bigger screen.

I know you bring this up a lot and, yes, other tablets have longer standby times. But really, how often are you away from a charger for 4 days?

Of all the things that could be improved on the android port on the touchpad thats very near the bottom of the list for me.

Look at it this way, if your smartphone had a battery life of 4 days would you be complaining?

Because I can LEAVE the tablet anywhere I'd like. You have a dock, but I bring mine around. To school, to lab, at home. I don't expect to be charging everyday. When I see people use iPads, they leave them around anywhere they'd like around the house. I do that too and I find myself having to charge. I do pack a charger in my backpack, but it's not a 2A charger so the TouchPad can't charge up if it dies.

We've established with every cell phone that you pretty much need to recharge every night. Sorry. Smartphone.

You yourself already made the difference clear. The industry standard for tablets is they can go for weeks without a recharge. Phones on the other hand are 1 day (at most 2) for most devices. So yes, in this sense the TouchPad falls short. And if I can only recharge it using a damn 2A cable either I gotta make sure I have one of those cables on hand all the time, or I'm screwed.

You can use a 2A TP charger for your phone as well, you don't need two.

I'm saying if I carry my 2A charger around or leave it at work/school or wherever, then I won't have one at home. Or I could buy a few. But the point remains that the TouchPad REQUIRES a 2A charger when dead, meaning that I need to have one at my gf's place too.

Maybe you enjoy charging your tablet everyday, but from all the iPad users I know, it's always just lying around. They don't have to charge it that often. I don't touch my TouchPad enough to warrant heavy use for 2-3 days to have to charge it that often. But given my usage pattern, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a few weeks out of it. It's not about NOT having a charger on me. I have one in my cube, in my backpack, and two at home. I just shouldn't have to charge my tablet every few days when it's sitting idle for days at times

So if you have chargers everywhere and you have your touchpad laying around idle for extended periods it seems to me you could just plug it in. It really seems like you are making this issue more of a drama than it is.

No. You just like charging your touchpad everyday. I bring a charger not for my touchpad but for my phone. The fact is there's an industry standard and the touchpad falls short. Nothing wrong with complaining about that. If it's a non issue for you, great.

Lol, you're complaining about a discontinued tablet running a hacked version of an OS it was never meant to run. Considering that (and the fact that they were so cheap) I'd say it runs pretty well.

He's not so much complaining but making a rather valid criticism (although perhaps a bit too much). It's not like he's saying it's a terrible tablet that's unusable.
