I think I'm just gonna get rid of the 16gb..sister doesn't seem too interested. Maybe I'll get $250 on eBay (except for damn fees)...if that goes I'll let the 32gb go too and hopefully get enough for a Thinkpad. It's cool they are working on Android and all, but I dunno.

Who likes WebOS and who hates it? I guess to each their own. It's slow. Yes. But I feel it's a superior OS than any android. I went from a Pre- to a HTC EVO 4G. I really hate the EVO. it's just clunky, and buggy. Things crash, doesn't respond to my commands half the time, and I feel less productive.

No, I don't think anyone noted the fact that it was for 7" TouchPads. That said I doubt we'll see such devices - it's one thing to support the 10" TouchPad (since it was a viable retail product, at least for 7 weeks), but the 7" would be a DOA product.

You mean like besides in your own link?

I think it's okay overall. There are a lot of things that I believe they could have cleared up with some simple user trials. For example, I fixed my battery life problem by telling it to turn off WiFi when asleep. I don't know how Apple handles it, but iOS doesn't seem to be affected by WiFi being on or off, and if it does disable it while asleep, it seems to connect extremely fast. 😱

But anyway... I have a lot of little complaints, but nothing too major. I think that combined they would have been enough to make me return the device, but not for $100.

I've not had any complaints with WebOS except the lacking variety of apps. There are quite a few Palm Pre apps out there for emulation mode use, but that defeats the purpost of having a big screen.

My real needs are RDP (A MUST), wma capable audio player, and native Netflix. I don't think WebOS will cut it as I've only been able to play wma files out of my three major needs with Audiophile.

As for speed, when you disable logging and do the preware tweaks (with or without overclocking), it's a different tablet. Battery life seems to be decent.

Finally, I was impressed with the Email app. I was able to sync with my work Exchange account...which has a bunch of activesync security policies that break half of the devices out there. HP did a good job with that app... I did a video call with skype last night and it seemed to work well too.

I agree, really would like an RDP app. For the logging, do you disable it by setting the logging level to minimal or is there an actual option to turn it off entirely? I set my logging level to minimal and figured that was it.

Haven't had much time to play with it yet do to work and llack of power since I got it, but plan on taking it with me this weekend and had a couple questions.

Any problem hooking this up via cell phone hotspot wifi?

How do you network this to your computer? Have several tvshow avis saved I want to move over. Can you do it wifi or does it need to be by cable?

AFAIK it doesn't work with ad-hoc networks, but if you're using legit tethering I think that's infrastructure mode so you would be okay.

It connects to a computer via USB. You enable USB storage mode on the Touchpad and then it acts like a giant flash drive.

The first step is to use the phone app and dial ##LOGS# to turn it off there. After doing that, install java and the preware stuff from a PC, connect your USB cable and install the "Muffle System Logging", "Remove Dropped Packet Logging", and make sure you add "Increase Touch Sensitivity and Smoothness 10".

Those are the big ones, but there are other preware 'patches' that can give you a performance boost without overclocking too.

Yep did those. I actually wasn't able to use the phone app to dial (kept asking me to connect a phone), but I found another way. In the Device Info tab under Settings, go to the menu and choose "Custom Application" and type in ##logs# to get the same effect.

I have 2 methods to tether, through the BB using BB desktop, though I don't think that will work here, and through an LG phone acting as wireless access point. I know I can wifi a laptop easy through the LG wifi, hoping as easy for the pad.

I'm not sure if you mean an actual RDP application or any sort of remote connection application. Splashtop is supposed to be bringing a TouchPad application out in Q4. There's already a non-TouchPad WebOS version out.

I saw a link in that Precentral setup guide for a music player. Maybe it handles WMA? Although, I've had a lot of bad luck with Preware so far... I still can't install TouchPlayer. :\

On the way, Newegg just called.

It seems my TouchPad is charging just fine with the case on. I'm wondering if it's because it didn't just transition into the clock application. I do wish it charged in the opposite direction in the landscape orientation so the flap opened upward.

They probably could have sold the components. The only problem is that the only tablet that I know of that's 1024x768 is the iPad. Although, with Apple's supplier deals... I don't know if they'd need it. 😛 Also, doesn't the new T-Mobile Galaxy II supposedly use the same Qualcomm SoC?

The wifi on this thing is buggy. If I turn the touchpad on, wifi connects automatically. Say, you turn the wifi on/off 2-3 times, the touchpad won't connect to your wifi again. I had to restart the luna interface after installing patches. The wifi won't connect now. Keeps saying association failed or won't find any networks.

How did you turn off WiFi when asleep? I can't find the option anywhere.

Edit: Nevermind, just found it. On another note, anyone else annoyed when you scroll down webpages and you can move the screen from side to side?

Go to wifi in the settings tab, then in the top left touch the writing "wi-fi" and pick sleep settings.

Yes. Not sure why it does this. My palm pre does not do this.

It seems when I am in the same room where my router is, the wi-fi has trouble connecting. When I go to the other side of the house, the wi-fi will work and then I can come back.

If anyone has wi-fi problems, try this. Seems odd, but it worked for me so far.
