HP Stream 8: how to use the built in GPS?

I just got the HP Stream 8 and I can't figure out how to convince the Maps or Here Maps apps to recognize the built in GPS. Device Manager says that the GPS is running and both apps are set to access location info. Google Earth also won't detect the GPS though that doesn't surprise me. The GPS-Satellite app gets poor reviews so I'm hesitant to try it. Any ideas? Any other built-in tools in Win 8.1 that will tell me if the GPS is actually working?

Figured out that the GPS was having trouble finding its wa until I took the tablet outside. Now all works.
