Seriously, though, how useful is Office 365 on a 7" tablet? My eyes hurt just thinking of editing a spreadsheet on a screen that small.

I have a 7 inch windows tablet. I think the bigger annoyance would be the touch interface. But if you hooked up a mouse I could see using it briefly. For instance i keep several personal logs in excel(checkbook, car maintainence, workouts, etc). Something like that would be ok, but for big spreadsheets it would be difficult.

I would get this in a heartbeat if I didn't already have a Nexus 7. I kick myself pretty regularly for not just getting a Windows tablet when I was shopping around. I imagine I would get a hell of a lot more use out of it than I do my Nexus.

This tablet is actually pretty good considering its price point. It has relatively low battery life and its 1 GB of RAM does not help with speediness.

Got one for my Mom awhile back and she really likes it but it needs to be charged often...

1GB of ram and only 32bit ram bus, so tecnically killing the igp too, and it was already below the minimum needed today.

So, its not bad, but no HDMI and only 1GB/32bit bus is a big limit to what those BT can do, but its still good on CPU front.

1GB Ram means this thing is junk already. Unless it has expandable ram slots which I highly doubt.

Yes the cpu is crippled based off the low ram, but this will easily beat an ipad 3 in speed and probably an ipad 4 in tasks. Getting this for $80 dollars is fine for some uses but not others.

It is probably faster than most cellphones that people have in their pockets. Would you rather brows on a Galaxy S4 or a 7" tablet if both fit in your pockets?

Of course a real tablet is better but 3 to 4 times the price.

Isn't Windows 10 being buggy pretty much a given at this point in its development?
I remember windows 8 being less buggy when the consumer preview is released. Microsoft is not doing a consumer vs a technical preview for they are doing auto updates. Windows 8 consumer preview was late Feb, with RTM being August, and the stores could first sell the computers on Oct 26th.

Maybe my expectations are too high but I would not consider windows 10 anything close to consumer preview ready. Maybe it will be better in a month but the amount of bugginess is scarring me.

Furthermore I am not liking some of the decisions I am seeing with windows 10. I see why desktop people will like it but now we are having the opposite problem of 10 for windows 10 currently look and feel is shitty on a tablet while it is fine on a desktop. They have a tablet and a windows mode but the tablet mode seems the unholy abomination for tablets, like windows 8 was for desktops.

Seriously I like the idea of universal apps, but that does not mean this extreme of universal interface. Some US works better with a tablet and some on a computer, stop trying to mix the two it does not work.

This is coming from someone who loves windows 8, and is fine with it on the desktop with no "start menu fix"

Perhaps no junkware but certainly a lot of contra-revenuware...

You mad bro? Every time you are in an intel thread you must spout contra-revenue. Seriously does this need to be mentioned in a thread meant to point out a hot deal? Why do you care how many rebates hp is giving intel?

Wrong forum?

To discuss a PC? This ain't a phone or some other relatively simplified and limited 'mobile' device that can reasonably be segregated away into a non-PC category.

Before the holidays I picked up a Stream 7 and remain impressed for what it is capable of. A full PC with full Windows, and an IPS display for less than $100! With nothing else at this price range and capability I picked up a few of the to run a marine navigation software package such as OpenCPN or browse the web.

This isn't the days of old Netbooks that were crippled by both hardware and a relatively resource hogging OS. Windows 8 is truly much more efficient with low memory specifications and even the fndamental BayTrails run circles around the old Atoms. With the lastest series of Atoms, Intel should've ditched that name to honestly separate contemporary performance and experienced bias of the past.

Toss aside expecations of extensive multitasking and a system such as this for web browsing, most Store programs, the odd desktop app, then this is fine. It's below $100 when on sale? Be rational, adjust your expectations and this system becomes incredible!

Let me guess...neither one of you two geniuses have ever even used one?

It's not designed to be a desktop replacement or anything like that. Using it for what it is designed for it is very snappy and responsive.

Good sir, this was in the CPUs and Overclocking sub-forum before.

I wish that the Standby battery life was better, if I leave it for two days in Standby, the battery is totally dead. At least it hibernates before shutting down.

I agree, and with a registry switch have disabled connected standby leaving the power button to hibernate:

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\ and set the value CsEnabled from 1 to 0

I keep almost buying one but I don't have a reason to. However if I was in the market for a new tablet this would be what I pick up. I am however more interested in the 8 inch version.
