I was reading this article and it looked kind of goofie and misleading to me.

HONG KONG, China (Reuters) -- Hewlett-Packard Co., the world's number-two PC maker, said on Friday it has launched a 3,999 yuan ($483) computer in China, turning up the heat in the intensely competitive market.
It made it seem like it was a big deal to sell a PC for $483 was a deal that was not obtainable in the USA. This of course may be paying too much. My father ordered a computer from Dell around Christmas time and the price for the 400Mhz P4 based Celeron system with a 17" Monitor was $399.00!
$483.00 is not that good of a price. The article did not appear to be researched that well.
I have seen some special deals through AOL for computers for less than this also.
