After getting a hammered by a very bad piece of "Microsoft Antivirus 2009" crapware, a friend deleted the "infected" files, rendering windows unbootable - splash screen and that's all. I was able to recover their data files and important stuff. I want to run the HP restore Plus to get her back to original setup. The partition and files are there, but I cannot figure out how to start it. She gave me all of the "system recovery discs" that she made when the computer was new, but the only option that there is a complete format of the drive - it will wipe the HP partition. Any Ideas???

Thanks in advance. btw HP site was nearly useless in this matter.

Darn it. It was right in front of my nose - well almost. I remembered that there was an F11 option at one time on bootup, but it was gone. Curiously I took a peek in the BIOS. There was an option to enable F11 and to turn on Recovery - they were disabled. Enabled and rebooted - TADA - Restore enabled and she has all of her preloaded stuff back. (She likes the extra "stuff"). Back up and running and all is "fine" for her.

This is a glorified typewriter - Word, e-mail, surfing. Never has anything else ever loaded on it - MS updates, and Avast only. That's why she wanted it "Just like it was".
