We have an old HP ProLiant ML330 G3 that is running with 2x2.4ghz XEONs that we're hoping to squeeze one more year out of by upgrading its CPU's to 2x3.06ghz XEONs. I understand this to be the fastest CPU I can put in this server.

My question is if it matters what XEON 3.06 I get. Looking at what's available on ebay I see some came out of IBM's, some came out of HP's, etc. Can I just grab any matched set and stick it in or do I need HP particular ones? I'm quite familiar with desktop hardware, but really don't know too much about the server stuff.

Thanks.
