Dear Experts

I have got HP LaserJet M5035 MFP Series printer that initially was able to scan documents to shared folder on 2xDesktops (PC1 and PC2) windows 8

I upgraded PC1 (but not yet PC2) only from windows 8 to windows 10 pro and I tried to copy the same setting as it was on windows 8

Created folder on windows 10 and shared it and edited permission tab and security tab as well

I can access that shared folder on PC1 from PC2 no issue.

On the web interface of the printer when I click on : "Test Folder Access" I get below error message

Unable to reach ’\\VISIONDESKTOP\Kylie_Scans’. Please check the location and make corrections as needed

Thx

Check what version of SMB protocol the printer needs. Windows 10 is trying to phase out SMB 1.0 protocol, because of security issues, but devices like your "scan to network" printer, may still use it. Try enable SMB1.0 protocol in "Programs and Features" under Windows Features, I think it is, and see if it starts working.

It may be a protocol issue, rather than strictly a permissions issue.

Ok, I would try changing the folder path to \\IP_address\Kylie_Scans

see if that helps. Win 10 has had quite a few network problems, on going, and the LAN stuff is weird sometimes.

Unfortunate still no joy
From the PC that I have the shared folder located I can ping the ip address of the printer (192.168.1.18) and I can access the web interface of the printer

Is this a "flat" network, or are there Powerline ethernet or other network-extender (wireless extender) technologies in use? Secondary routers or APs?

Can you ping the PC sharing the folder, from the printer?

Printer and PC2 (windows 8) wired connection and PC1 (windows 10) is wireless connection
For testing purpose I disabled windows firewall on PC1

My money is on the smb 1.0 fix as the culprit. Firewall settings might have been an issue as well. Glad it's fixed.

Its because of reasons like this that a nas is wonderful for network scanners--no computers at all except to look at the resulting data.
