HP Printer Cartridge RMA?

Crimson

Banned
I just got a brand new HP Photosmart 7960 Printer.. and one of the color cartridges has a white streak through the red portion of the test page. Does this every time.. tried 1st, 2nd, and 3rd level clean on it.. no change.. Anyone ever had to return a cart to HP? Was the process easy and quick? Or can you return them to the retailer?

I'll call them in the AM, but wanted to know if anyone else has returned them and what they had to do in order to get a replacement.

Well, yeah.. I had thought of that.. but I think Best Buy may blow me off with it being the included carts with the printer and not separate ones.. Not sure, I'll give them a call too tomorrow and see what they say. Never actually had a bad cart.

Called HP.. they said the only options are to either return the whole printer to Best Buy, or they will send me a new cartridge.. I opted for the 2nd one since this is already my 2nd printer!

Listen up!!!!!!
RETURN the printer and trade it out for a Canon i560, i860 or i960. Only get the i960 if you are a dedicated photo printer because the black is not as large as wht's in the i560 or i860.

I would just take it back to BB and get a new one. quicker than waiting for a new ink to ocme in the mail

After you buy 3 sets of cartridges, you will figure out how HP plays the game. They will even tell you you're low on ink when you have 49% left. Would you pay $10,000 a gallon for gasoline?
HP knows it will take you about 3 refills before you realize how you're getting the shaft and then it's too late to return the printer. Canon ink is a lot less and good generics are available for as low as under $ a cart. Besides that you can actually seee what you have left. Refilling and auto inking are real options too.

Besides, the Canon i960 is the best inkjet photo printer out there right now.
