I have purchased a 935 HP camara and want an HP printer to make the pictures. The models I am interested in are the 7760 and the 7960. The concern is the difference betwen 6 color and 8 color printing, and 4 cartridges vs 2 cartridges. Both have USB front and back and media input with LCD's screens, albeit the 7960 lcd screen is 2.5 inches compared to 1.8 inches on the 7760. I want the best value, but I also want quality image reproduction because I will be using this for my daughters wedding pictures. Is there anyone in here from HP or with experience with these products? Your opinions are valued.

Thank you. And Happy New Year. :)

I am confused about this decision too. I have a hp 930c. It has served me well and it is time to upgrade. I like the 7960 because more colors means more realistic flesh tones. It can make more final colors. The problem is that now I am not sure if I should get a HP or an Epson. The new Epson r800 is coming out in February. It has a droplet size that is 1/2 the size of any printer currently on the market. Look hear for a review of both the Epson and the HP:
Printer Comparison
I have always had HP printers in the past. The Epsons are supposed to be a lot cheaper to print with. There are 8 individual colors and you can replace them one at a time. I think the Canon models do this too. Although I hear the HP gives you the best photo out of the box. Personally I am going to get mine at newegg because it is a lot cheaper than best buy or compusa. Here is another link with a real good forum: DPReview

I was given a 2410 All-in-One Photosmart for Xmas. It has an option where you can swap the black cartridge out with a 6 color photo cartridge that works with the three color cartridge, and keep the black in for day to day printing. I did some test photos and the borderless printing is great. Honestly, I think the pictures with just the three color cartridge and the black cartridge installed look great.

BTW, I would try and buy a printer locally. Printers are very mechanical items and have a higher failure rate than most other hardware plus are more prone to shipping damage. Not to mention they cost a MINT to ship and will become very expensive if you get a broken one and have to ship it back. Newegg does NOT pay return shipping, even for defective items.

YEP, printers are one thing I buy locally so I can just take them back if anything goes wrong.

If you want a good deal, try SAMS or Costco.

Costco here locally will sell the 7760 for $139.00. That is a hell of a price break. Staples matches all brick and morter competitive store sales. Still, I need some advice on the 7960 8 color/4 cartridge. that is a $299 printer. I will pay it if it is worth it. If its not, I will go with the $139.00 7760.

To put it mildly. You're foolish to buy an HP injet printer. After you replace the cartridges a couple times you will know what I mean.

Buy a Canon i960

He's talking about the cost of ink.
The Canon is king of price per sheet printing and speed.

I like my HP though, on HP's premium matte photo paper.
No one else comes close to making a film like matte paper.

That, and I can walk into any store and know they have HP ink cartridges.

I always had a problem finding Lexmark and Epson inks and when I did they were usually old.
I've had 3 Epson's crap out on me.. I don't care what they make now, I won't buy one.

I use the 7150 which uses the same ink cartridges, a 3color and a 3color photo.

I just bought the i960. It rocks. My friend has the i950. It rocks too. I'd have to say the i950 is the best bang for the buck for photo printing. (My i960 has the ability to print from the camera directly, but I won't be using that feature much, and the i960 costs 15-20% more than the i950.)

As for cartridges, my local office supply store carries Canon ink and papers. Canon printers are pretty common after all. 6 individual colour cartridges too - cheaper to replace.

My Sams actually had a couple Canon i950s left before christmas for $149...That's a deal...

Only a rich man can afford to operate an HP inkjet...
Then aagin, ther is a sucker born every day...
