Hard drive died and of course the recovery data is on a partition on the HD. HP web site does not have the recovery CD's in stock so does anyone know of anyplace else to get the recovery CD's?

That really sucks. I would contact HP and ask them what you should do. They might be able to get the cds for you.

They will give you the CDs, but you have to contact someone higher up than technical support, since technical support will give you the run around response (eg, "We don't provide recovery discs). I had this problem awhile back and contacted the BBB, which HP then contacted me and gave me the discs and everything worked out. The recovery discs they gave me were around 10 CDs. I would just buy a cheap copy of Win XP, I think you can find one for 90 bucks or cheaper on Ebay. Otherwise, you will get all that unnecessary software that HP bundles with the recovery.

yea, it's a pain in the A$$...........The computer belongs to my sister in law and the HD just died mid-stream while she was using it. I hooked it to one of my computers and you can hear it initialize but nothing. I ran Active Partition Recovery and it didn't even read anything from the drive. Do you folks know of any other software that might give me access to the drive? I also ran Ultimate Boot CD and ran Fujitsu drive utility and it also did nothing.

Thanks for any help
