HP Pavilion zd7000 (DM788AR)

I have an HP Pavilion zd700 (DM788AR), and the problem is that when i plug in the power conector the laptop shuts down and won't power up unless u take the power conector off. It starts up perfectly without the power conector being pulg, and if its pulged and u try to start it up it won't. It's not the power cord because i tried with a diferent one from the same model from a friend of mine. I live outside the U.S. and there is only 1 HP certified support center here, and they denied to fix it (since they didn't bring parts anymore for that model, and i have no more warranty on it), so i want to know what parts should i buy to replace on the laptop. I know that i have to get a new power kit buy i am afraid that that is not the only part that needs replacing. Plz post any comments or suggestions. Thx.

I don't think you are in a situation where you can accurately diagnose and replace parts in that system.
If you really want to save it, ship it to a decent repair center or just get a new laptop.

Try this before anything else. Remove the battery from the laptop. Then connect the A/C adapter and cord. If it works OK, then you need to replace the battery.

Does the ac charge the battery with it plugged in? And when you said its not the power cord, do you mean the whole ac adapter you tried or just the cord?
