If I upgrade a HP Pavilion 6343 hard drive to at least a 40 or 80 gig 7200 rpm hard drive would it speed it up a lot more?

Here are the orginal specs for the HP Pavilion 6343: AMD K6 2 300mhz, 32 mb of ram, 4 gig 5400 rpm hard drive, 2 mb of onboard video, onboard sound card and it is on windows 98.
 
you need to at least quadrouple the RAM, preferably quadrouple x2, and then the newer HDD will help speed for sure. 🙂
 
Would this be good to buy two crucial pc 66 128 mb of ram sticks for around $124? (Front side bus on the computer is only 66 mhz. I know thats bad and very slow)

Then buy a new 40 or 80 gig 7200 rpm hard drive for about $45 to $80 ? Or would just a bigger and faster hard drive work?
 
Head over to the freebies thread in FS/FT. Lots of people giving away old RAM sticks. After adding more RAM a new hard drive will make your system a bit faster.
 
Thanks but it says you must give before you ask for anything and I think thats a good rule. I have nothing to give because when I clean sweeped I threw away all of my clutter for the most part. If I would of none there was a easy way t get rid of it so someone could really use it I would of kept it but it was clutter and had been there for many years. I couldn't keep it forever. Next time I know.

Though the thing I don't get is sense everyone has to give something before asking for something. How does anyone get something sense everyone first needs to give something ? I mean there has to be someone that starts from somewhere. The only way I can think of is this. Two people give something to each other that each of them need but have. That way both of them give and receive. Thats really the only way. Not easy to do because you have to find that exact person that fits both profiles.

I don't think its right though to ask for anything in that forum without giving something first anyway so I won't ask sense I have nothing to give anymore 🙁

I had a monitor, usb cable, floppy drive, old cd-rom drive, etc to give away but I threw it all away because it was clutter. Now I didn't throw it away just like that. I waited a good 2 years + before doing that to see if anyone wanted them but no one did. I didn't know about the forum on anandtech though at the time but now I do.
 
No one would even want my junk anyway if I still had it I bet. Thats what it was in my opinion. I mean who would want any of that stuff? I can't think of anyone that would.
