I have an HP P1110 that has served me well for a number of years, but I think it might be starting to die. It has the well known contrast fading that these monitors get as they age, but the biggest problem is that the screen seems to flicker a bit, and occasionally shifts or shrinks horizontally for a few minutes (or until I smack the side of it and make it shift back). At one point the picture actually shrunk to half the size and everything was seen in double, which I fixed by lowering the refresh rate a bit. At 1280x1024 I can only display at 90hz now, whereas I used to be able to do 100hz. Also, the picture is rounded at the bottom, and most browers window vertical lines are not straight. I tried fixing these with the pincussion settings in the monitors control panel, but I still can't get it perfectly straight.
Is there anything I can do or is it time to finally enter the world of LCDs?
