My g/f bought an HP 5415 notebook, display item, at circuit city. It had all the circuit city crap on it, so i was gonna use the system restore disks to get a clean winXP home. well, i tried 3 times and every time it wouldn't read disk 3 of 3. So i decided i'd format the drive and install my winXP pro (corporate edition =) ). This went fine, but then she started getting blue screens ( stop erros, as microsoft likes to call them ). When i searched the windows knowledge base, i found the error, a win2k problem with parallel zip drives. Well, she has no zip drives of any kind, and never has. I had her call HP and act like i didn't research it to see what they would say, the guy found the same thing as me. So i formatted the dirve, installed windows again. Same problem. Formatted the drive, loaded win98, and then upgraded to winXP. Same problem. Microsoft says to solve the "win2k/zip drive" problem to install the service pack. Shouldn't winXP have this problem fixed out of the box, not to mention there is NO zip drive. the only thing i can think of trying is running the service pack in compatability mode to see if anything changes. any ideas??:frown:
