I have a Color Laserjet 2605dn

The drivers specific to that model are dated from 2005!
Whereas the Universal Printer Driver is dated April 2008

Anyone have experience w/ the Universal Printer Driver? Is it better than the model specific driver?
 
If it works, stay with it.
With something like printer drivers, the newer it is the more bloat is in it, in general. If you have no problems with the old drivers, then there is zero reason to run the newer ones.
 
well i do have a minor bug w/ the drivers (sometimes the jobs get stuck in the print queue and you have you have to reboot your computer to get the print jobs to goto the printer...im connected to the printer via ethernet) so i was wondering if the newer drivers fixes it..but the newer drivers are the generic universal ones and not model specific....

wondering if anyone has had experience /w it
 
HP is more interested in selling newer printers than upgrading the drivers for old printers. Do a search for an uninstaller for the HP drivers and use that to uninstall and then reinstall. That makes all the difference.
