HP Laserjet 2100 Jet Direct not being detected!

I figured this is a networking question...

I have a HP Laserjet 2100

i put in a jetdirect card into the printer so i could network it.

i hooked up the printer to my network.

however, it is not working. 🙁

i print out a config page, and there is an ip, subnet, etc all detected.

but I cannot get access to the pritner at all. my HP printer wizard won't even detect it.

help please!!!

How are the ip and subnet detected? Do you have a DHCP server they're using or is it just making up addresses?

Personally it seems dumb to have a printer use DHCP, you'd have to update your config every time the printer's IP changes.

OK, you have the IP of the printer. Try setting it up by IP, and printing to it. Select tcp/ip for a port, and configure it.
If you want to change it to a static IP, you can telnet into it by IP.
