hp laptop power supply/brick replacement?

I have an HP G60 laptop. The power supply that came with it has died. I have an old Dell PSfrom a D600 I believe. The connection fits, the "specs" were close and it's charging. Is it going to be safe?

HP power brick specs ( Part No.463552-002 )
wide range input
100-240v - 1.7A(1.7A) 50-60Hz
output
18.5V (18.5V) - 3.5A(3.5A) 65W

Dell specs ( Model AA22850 - PA12 Family )
input
100-240V - 1.5A 50/60Hz
output
19.5V - 3.34A

Should be fine. The DC-DC converters in laptops are usually good for a 15V - 25V range. The actual voltage of 18.5V usually isn't required unless they have some sort of detection circuitry that prevents it. Output power is what counts, 19.5 x 3.34A is 65W, same as original.

yeah i would imagine it will be just fine even if the laptop didnt do any dc conversion at all (which im pretty sure it does anyway).
