HP Laptop issues

Hey,

Tried to turn on my HP Pavilion dv9700 Laptop yesterday.

- I can tell you that when I press the power button the lights come on; I hear the hard drive start to spin then the hard drive stops spinning. During that process the laptop screen is black with no errors or anything coming up on the screen. It just starts with a black screen and that's it...I left it for a while but nothing happens; the lights stay on and the hard drive stops running it seems. I am wondering if it is the hard drive or the motherboard. If it is the motherboard can this be fixed????

Can anyone help???

Thanks for reading

probably needs a new motherboard. the models with extra video card (non-discrete) seem to all die. google around. i've seen 3 in the last month (amd and intel).

oddly i've never seen a model with discrete (poopy intel gma) ever have a problem.

could it be nvidia? 🙂

No battery charge?

One common problem with laptops is the battery connector getting loose over time. Eventually the connector is loose enough that it stops charging the battery.

One cheap fix that works sometimes is to wrap a little masking tape around the plug so it fits better. If one of the motherboard connections has broken this won't help.
