How hard is it to install the SoDimm memory into these notebook? i.e. tighness.

Should I take it to an authorized dealer or can I install these memory module myself?

It would be great for someone who already receive this notebook to search in their manual, please?

I check my order status, it show as being shipped by Air born express also(paid $5.97 shipping.):D

A retarded Monkey with one arm could insert a SODimm in this baby. 2 screw and snap in place.

I got the HP 5170 at Office Depot for 1399.00 which is the same Laptop, but a little more beefed up.

I ordered the Dimm from Crucial for $65 and snapped it in.

The laptop is nice.

I am also looking for extra batteries and an extra power supply.

Thanks Scandal.

I build my own computer and have been showing people here on Anandtech how to overclock a Duron. I was just afraid of mucking thing up with the notebook since everything is so small and fragile.

Vpham,
Don't worry about it. Its easier than putting ram in a desktop. You'll do fine.

Thanks,

I ordered two last night about 4am PST, but didn't receive an email confirmation. I talked with customer service a few minutes ago. The rep said that any order over $1000 is automatically held for "confirmation" to avert fraud. So, people who ordered only one should have received confirmation, but people who ordered two or more might not get an email until Sunday or Monday.

She assured me, however, that there is plenty of stock to cover every order that went through before their site showed "sold out". In other words, they have an accurate real-time inventory system.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

Hmmm... I wonder how many will show up on eebbaayy in the next week or two?

Luke warm deals on network adapter for this notebook?????

Linksys 10/100 PC Card $35 at OfficeDepot.Com
Under middle top right link for Technologies:Data Storage, Networking:Networking:Network Adapters:Network Adapters For Notebook PCs:

Click on the Linksys 10/100 PC Card
List Price: $140.00(Probably one of those Jack up Office Store prices..)
Our Price: $49.99
Link for $15 off of $50(Not my referral)
Add something to get you over $50, then use the $15 off of $50 coupon. I found out about the C/pon here.

Linksys 10/100 PC Card
3Com Megahertz 10/100 Lan CardBus PC Card provides 32-bit cardBus performance, low power consumption and guaranteed compatibility. Full duplex operation increases performance by simultaneously sending and receiving data. It's easy to install, configure and use and the XJACK connector allows simple and reliable network connections without carrying or losing cables. Auto negotiation automatically configures the PC Card for 10 or 100 Mbps operation based on the speed of the network to which it is being connected.

I don't know anything about networking, so please let me know what you think! I know we could've bought a network card from Compusa this week for $35 straight up also. I posted this deal in this same thread instead of starting a new one b/c I want to keep deal related to this notebook in the same thread.

Has any body found a good deal on battery, laptop back pack, yet?
Should we buy the extra 2 or 3 years warranty, or is the 1 year enough. I probably don't want to keep this notebook for more than 2 years.

Thanks dbLA.

I can corraborate your info. I bought two in one order at 9 PST, then one more at 9:08 PST. (Interestingly, I wanted to buy more at 9:08, but then got "one per customer" error.) I tried to place an order under my wife's account at 9:10, but it was sold out by then.

Just called CSR before reading dbla's post, but after I saw "shipped" on the second order, "ordered" on the earlier (first.) Both were made with the same CC, so that isn't the issue. Of course, the friendly (but hard to hear, bad connection) CSR was clueless about the $1000 hold. Glad you could clear this up.

With the memory and this 169.99 20 gig hard drive you'd have a killer MP3 machine too! I ordered one too but I got no confirmation...... I wonder if they are off on the weekends?
